ESG Investing Report 2017

We are pleased to publish PIMCO’s first annual report addressing the integration of ESG factors in our investment process, together with our engagement work on behalf of clients.

PIMCO has been managing socially responsible strategies since 1991 and since 2011 has been taking steps to incorporate ESG analysis in the firm’s investment process. In 2017 we launched a range of dedicated ESG strategies and a protocol for engaging with corporate issuers on ESG-related matters.

Highlights of this year’s report include:

  • Key themes identified through issuer engagement
  • Details on PIMCO’s investment process for fixed income ESG strategies
  • Case studies on how ESG can be included in corporate and sovereign bond research
  • Discussion of the challenges of measuring carbon risk in fixed income portfolios
